East & West Approach to Sciatica

 

 

 

Sunday April 22nd, 2018, 9am - 6pm (with a 1 hour lunch break)

This single day course offers a diverse approach to assessing and treating and relieving sciatic pain through eastern and western modalities. Cupping, Kineisiology taping, TCM accupressure, Thai accupressure, Thai stretches, Gua Sha scraping, trigger points, manual and massage techniques all will be demonstrated and explained during this 8 hour seminar. Attendees will have time to practice on each other and have their questions answered, leaving with the ability assist their own cllients relieve sciatic stress and move towards full body wellnes.

Attendees will be able to identify sciatic nerve referral pains and devise an effective treatment plan. Students will also learn the contradictions of specific modailities, and when to refer the client out to a more specific medical professional.


Basic Thai Massage/ Level I

This course teaches the same basic routine learned by students at the Old Medicine Hospital, in Chang Mai, Thailand. Over the five day course, students will learn a brief history of Thai massage, be shown how to locate and identify the 10 major Sen Lines, how to apply acupressure to those lines, the use of proper body mechanics and alignment, and how to safely perform the yoga-like stretches and lifts to the client.

Intermediate Thai Massage/ Level II

The second level expands on, and refines techniques learned in the basic class. Several full body lifts will be taught. Alternate postures for the client and therapist will be demonstrated. The use of Thai herbal balls will be incorporated, as well as learning how and when to use them. The massage techniques learned in this class are the very same as what would be experienced in Thailand, from an experienced practitioner.

Thai Foot Massage

Thai foot massage is designed to bring about a complete sense of health and wellbeing to the client, and is accomplished through the use of massage and acupressure to the foot. The practitioner learns to use their whole body while performing these techniques, so to reduce the damage from repetitive movement and to maximize results. 

This class is of value to: practicing reflexologists wanting to expand their toolbox of techniques, massage therapists, Thai massage practitioners wanting to expand on their knowledge of acupressure points or massage techniques to the foot, or anyone wishing to learn the “Thai way” of foot massage.
